Cheers to Your Health

We have heard about the health benefits of including moderate amounts of red wine into our diets. Now, good news for beer drinkers: According to research, dark beer may have heart health benefits as well. Dark beer is rich in flavonoids, which have powerful antioxidant effects and may help prevent blood clots.
When it comes to flavonoids, it's about color. The rich flavonoid content makes red wine more heart friendly than white wine and purple grape juice a better choice for toddlers than white grape juice. And early indications are that dark beer is more active at fighting blood clots than light beer.
As always, alcohol studies should be read with caution -- there is the risk that the data will be misinterpreted and people will consume too much. Intake should be limited to two drinks a day. Enjoy responsibly and raise a glass to heart health!
